Des Moines' Office of Sustainability has developed a community-wide climate action and adaptation plan which is set for a final vote on Monday, Dec 4th, 5pm at City Hall. This promising plan to make Des Moines more resilient to climate change while reducing carbon emissions city-wide has been years in the making, and we want a lot of folks to show up in blue or green to encourage the city council to approve it.

Congratulations, #WindsorHeights! 🎉 Last night, the city council adopted a community-wide 24/7 carbon-free electricity goal! This makes Windsor Heights the third city in #Iowa and the fifth nationwide to take up this ambitious decarbonization commitment.

This goal sets the @city_of_windsor_heights apart from other Iowa cities as it is the first city aiming to meet this target by the year 2030! The city will seek electricity that is carbon-free, around-the-clock, instead of using less aggressive approaches that utilize carbon offsets seen with some other 100% #RenewableEnergy pledges.

Windsor Heights is demonstrating the important role cities play in #ClimateLeadership, joining Waterloo and Des Moines as cities with a 24/7 CFE goal. Let's celebrate this major step forward toward a #CarbonFreeFuture for Iowa. 👏
